PM Vishwakarma Scheme 2026: 18 businesses will get government support, apply online today

The central government's PM Vishwakarma Yojana is proving to be a revolutionary step toward taking India's traditional arts and crafts to new heights. If you're involved in traditional occupations like shoemaking, tailoring, carpentry, or iron tool making, this scheme is a boon. As of the latest update in January 2026, under this scheme, the government not only provides modern training but also a grant of ₹15,000 for a toolkit and an affordable, unsecured loan of up to ₹3 lakh for starting a business.

What is PM Vishwakarma Yojana?

Even today, millions of people in our country earn their livelihoods through their traditional crafts. However, with changing times, these artisans were being left behind by modern machinery and the new demands of the global market. To bridge this gap, the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana was launched. The main objective of this scheme is to hone the skills of artisans, encourage them to engage in digital transactions, and empower them financially so that they can build their own large businesses. The government wants every Vishwakarma to gain new recognition, respect, and access to modern technology in society so that their art does not disappear.

Training and financial support

Under this scheme, beneficiaries receive two types of training: basic and advanced. Its primary focus is to educate artisans about modern machinery and new designs in the market. To ensure artisans do not suffer financial losses during training, the government provides a stipend of ₹500 per day directly to their bank accounts. After successfully completing the training, the government provides ₹15,000 in the form of an e-voucher to purchase a better toolkit to accelerate their business.

Cheap loan without guarantee

Lack of funds will no longer hinder your talent. The loan under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana is not only collateral-free, but also comes with a very low interest rate (only 5%):

  • Step 1: To set up your business, you are given a loan of up to Rs 1 lakh, which gives you ample time of 18 months to repay.
  • Step 2: If you repay the first loan on time, you are eligible for an additional loan of Rs 2 lakh to expand your unit with a repayment period of 30 months.

Who can apply?

The government has included 18 different traditional occupations in this scheme. If you are involved in any of these professions, you can take advantage of this golden opportunity:

  • Carpenters, boat builders and weapon makers.
  • Blacksmiths, locksmiths and hammer/toolkit makers.
  • Goldsmiths, potters and sculptors (stone carvers).
  • Cobblers, masons and basket/mat/broom makers.
  • Doll and traditional toy makers, barbers and garland makers.
  • washermen, tailors and fishnet makers.

Keep these things in mind before applying

To benefit from the scheme, it's crucial to apply with the correct information. Beneficiaries must be over 18 years of age, and no family member should be in government service. You must have an Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and an active mobile number. Be sure to check your eligibility before applying, as a complete application with the correct information will not only increase your income but also give your work a new identity.
