NPS New Rules: New NPS charges will be applicable from December 1, PFRDA has issued the necessary circular

The implementation date for new charges related to the National Pension System (NPS) and NPS Lite has been postponed. The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has made this decision. These new charges will now take effect on December 1st instead of October 1st.

The Public Sector Undertaking (PFRDA) revised the date for the new charges to come into effect through a circular dated October 26. Previously, the date was set for October 1 in a circular dated August 28. According to the new directives, the date for NPS and NPS Lite charges has now been set for December 1.

According to the revised PFRDA guidelines, the new fee structure will be effective from December 1st. Central recordkeeping agencies have been instructed to make the necessary arrangements. The relevant agencies will be responsible for ensuring that charges are properly reduced in accordance with the new date.

The new circular does not make any changes to the amount of the charges or the rules governing them. It merely postpones the date when the new charges will come into effect. Therefore, other fee provisions from the August 28th circular remain unchanged.

Points of Presence (PoPs) are authorized institutions or service centers that provide NPS-related services. These centers help with opening pension accounts and performing various account-related transactions. The revised fee structure for PoPs providing these services under the NPS will be effective December 1st.

The new fee structure will be applicable to the respective Points of Presence operating under NPS and NPS Lite. As of now, there are no changes to the fee rules, only the implementation date has been changed. Therefore, account holders should consult the official instructions from PFRDA before the new fees become effective.
