Nokia 2360 Flip will be special for the elderly and children, will send alerts with a single button in case of trouble

The Nokia 2360 Flip is designed with the safety of the elderly and children in mind. It features features like an SOS button and Family Assist.

When elderly parents live alone at home or children start school or college, family members are constantly worried about them. Often, even with a phone nearby, the elderly struggle to call someone in times of need.

Meanwhile, when children are given smartphones, parents worry about what they're viewing and who they're talking to. Keeping these needs in mind, HMD has introduced a new Nokia flip phone.

This phone is called the Nokia 2360 Flip. It's not a high-end smartphone, but rather a simple mobile phone that resembles an old-school keypad phone. However, it offers some features that set it apart from the typical keypad phone. Its most notable feature is the SOS button. Pressing it can send an emergency message to up to five people at once.

Emergency messages will reach loved ones at the press of a button

Imagine an elderly person is home alone and suddenly needs help. At such times, it can be difficult to find someone's phone number by opening your mobile's contact list. The Nokia 2360 Flip has a dedicated SOS button to address this issue.

Pressing and holding this button for about three seconds will make the phone call a pre-determined number and send an SMS to up to five emergency contacts. The people who should receive the message and the information it will contain can be pre-set. This means there's no need to repeatedly search for numbers in times of emergency.

Nokia 2360 Flip: You can change your settings from another phone while sitting at home

Another key feature of this phone is Family Assist. This allows a family member to remotely manage important settings on the Nokia 2360 Flip from their Android or iPhone.

For example, adding a doctor's number to an elderly person's phone or increasing the volume of calls doesn't require a visit. A family member can add contacts, set reminders, and even change the SOS button settings from their smartphone.

Interestingly, Family Assist works via SMS. Therefore, the Nokia 2360 Flip user doesn't need a mobile internet data plan. However, standard SMS charges may apply.

Special facility for parents who give phones to their children

The Nokia 2360 Flip isn't just for the elderly. The company has also included some features with children's safety in mind. Many parents today want to give their children their first phone, but they worry about how they'll use it.

In such a situation, its School Mode can be useful. When enabled, only essential features like the clock and emergency calls can be used. Additionally, it offers parental controls, allowing parents to control which numbers children can call or message. There's also the option to disable certain features, such as the camera and games. These settings can be protected with a Family PIN.

Two screens and an old-school flip design

Design-wise, the Nokia 2360 Flip sports a classic flip phone look. It features a 2.8-inch QVGA screen on the inside and a smaller 1.77-inch display on the outside. Caller information can be seen on the outer screen, eliminating the need to open the phone every time.

The phone features a large keypad and simple menus, making it easy to use. It weighs approximately 121 grams. The company has introduced it in Charcoal, Burgundy Red, and Teal colors.

Battery lasts up to 15 days

The Nokia 2360 Flip features a 1,450mAh removable battery. The company claims that the phone can deliver up to 15 days of standby time and 27.5 hours of talk time on a single charge. It also features a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio, and a basic QVGA camera with LED flash. The phone is IP54 rated, which provides protection against dust and light splashes of water.

The phone will support 2G network.

However, there's one important thing to know before purchasing this phone. The Nokia 2360 Flip only supports 2G networks. It doesn't offer 4G connectivity. Therefore, using it in areas where 2G networks are down may be difficult.

HMD hasn't yet revealed the phone's price or sale date. There's also no information regarding its India launch.
