The government has reassured citizens that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or cooking gas in the country, urging people not to panic or believe misinformation.
Refineries Operating at Full Capacity
Petroleum Ministry Secretary Sujata Sharma stated that crude oil supply remains adequate and all refineries are functioning at 100% capacity. She emphasized that there is no need for panic buying, as fuel availability is stable and prices remain unchanged.
PNG and CNG Supply Remains Normal
The government confirmed that supplies of piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) are also running smoothly. Efforts are underway to ease pressure on LPG distribution, with around 2.2 lakh consumers already shifting to PNG, while nearly 2.5 lakh applications are pending.
LPG Deliveries Unaffected Despite Higher Demand
Although there has been a rise in LPG bookings, officials clarified that deliveries are continuing without disruption. Commercial gas supply is also steady, with 26 tonnes delivered to eateries such as dhabas, canteens, and restaurants.
Crackdown on Black Marketing
Authorities have intensified action against illegal activities, seizing nearly 2,000 gas cylinders during enforcement drives. Additionally, kerosene allocations have been ensured for all states, with orders already issued for 16 states.
Shipping and Port Operations Stable
The Ministry of Shipping reported that maritime operations remain unaffected. Around 20 ships and 540 Indian sailors are currently in the Gulf region and are safe. Meanwhile, 50 Indian nationals have been brought back so far. Ports, including Mundra, are functioning normally, with supportive measures such as temporary storage relief and waived transport charges.
Continuous Diplomatic Engagement
The government is maintaining close coordination with international partners. Discussions are ongoing with multiple countries, including Iran and Sri Lanka, while global leaders have emphasized the importance of peace and secure trade routes.
Focus on Citizens’ Safety
Officials confirmed that the government is in constant contact with Indian nationals abroad, particularly in sensitive regions, ensuring their safety and providing assistance wherever required.
