Good news for WhatsApp users—an extremely long-awaited feature may finally be on its way. The platform is officially working on a Message Scheduling option, allowing users to send messages automatically at a pre-selected date and time.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature was spotted in the latest iOS beta update (version 26.7.10.72) released via TestFlight.
Say Goodbye to Late-Night Birthday Texts
The idea behind this feature is to give users better control over their communication. Until now, wishing someone exactly at midnight meant staying awake—but that’s about to change. With message scheduling, users can write their message in advance and set it to be delivered automatically at the chosen time, ensuring birthdays, anniversaries, or important reminders are never missed.
How the WhatsApp Message Schedule Feature Will Work
As per the report, users will be able to:
-
Type a message and choose a specific date and time for delivery
-
View all scheduled messages in a dedicated section inside the Chat Info screen
-
Edit or delete a scheduled message before it’s sent, without notifying the recipient
The feature is expected to work in both individual chats and group conversations. Currently available only in the beta version, it is likely to roll out to all users with a future stable update.
WhatsApp’s Other Recent Features
Alongside message scheduling, WhatsApp has also introduced Group Message History, allowing group admins to share 25 to 100 previous messages with newly added members. This helps new participants quickly understand earlier discussions without missing context.
