Morbi Horror Case: Father and Landlord Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Abuse Linked to Unpaid Rent

A deeply disturbing case from Morbi has triggered outrage after police alleged that a man allowed the sexual exploitation of his wife and minor daughter because the family was unable to pay house rent.

Authorities in Gujarat have arrested both the girl’s father and the landlord in connection with the case, while police continue searching for another suspect believed to be involved.

The incident has raised serious concerns about economic vulnerability, exploitation, and crimes against women and children.

Family Had Moved to Morbi for Work

According to the police investigation, the family originally belonged to Surendranagar district in Gujarat and had moved to Morbi around six months ago in search of employment and better livelihood opportunities.

After arriving in Morbi, the family reportedly rented a house for ₹2,000 per month. However, due to financial difficulties, they were allegedly unable to pay rent regularly, leading to nearly four months of unpaid dues.

Police said the family’s worsening economic condition became central to the alleged exploitation.

Allegations of Sexual Exploitation Over Rent Dispute

Investigators claim that during the financial crisis, the father allegedly entered into an arrangement with the landlord in which the family’s unpaid rent was linked to the sexual exploitation of his wife and minor daughter.

The shocking allegations came to light after the girl’s grandmother reportedly learned about the abuse and approached the police to file a complaint.

Based on the complaint, Morbi police registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.

Case Registered Under POCSO Act

Given the involvement of a minor, police have booked the accused under stringent legal provisions, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, commonly known as the POCSO Act.

Authorities confirmed that both the father and the landlord have been arrested.

Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and additional evidence is being collected.

Police Suspect Involvement of Another Person

Speaking about the case, Deputy Superintendent of Police JM Lal reportedly said that the abuse was allegedly orchestrated by both the minor girl’s father and the landlord.

Officials also confirmed that the possible involvement of a third individual is being investigated. Police teams are currently attempting to trace the suspect.

Authorities Promise Strict Action

Police said efforts are being made to ensure support and protection for the victims while legal proceedings continue against the accused.

The case has once again highlighted major social concerns related to:

  • Economic hardship
  • Housing insecurity
  • Exploitation of vulnerable families
  • Crimes against women and minors

Child rights activists and legal experts have stressed the importance of stronger social protection systems for financially distressed families, especially migrants searching for work in unfamiliar cities.

Investigation Still Underway

Morbi police have said the investigation remains active and more details may emerge as questioning continues.

Officials added that all accused individuals connected to the case would face strict legal action under applicable laws.

The incident has sparked widespread anger and concern online, with many demanding faster justice and stronger safeguards for women and children facing economic and social vulnerability.
