Monsoon speeds up... Rain alert issued in 24 states; what will the weather be like today from Delhi-UP to Bihar-Jharkhand and Himachal?

IMD Weather Update: The southwest monsoon is expected to advance into many parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand over the next 3-4 days. IMD Weather Update: The monsoon is advancing rapidly across the country. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the northern limit of the monsoon is passing through Surat, Indore, Mandla, Daltonganj, and Motihari on June 29. Over the next three to four days, the monsoon is expected to advance into Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, the rest of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Uttarakhand. The IMD has issued a rain alert for several states, including Delhi, today.

Today, Delhi's maximum temperature is expected to be 41 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature 30 degrees Celsius. Yesterday, Delhi's maximum temperature was recorded at 42 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has predicted continuous rain in Delhi from June 29th to July 4th.

Rain will increase in North India

According to the IMD, rainfall activity will intensify in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh between June 29 and July 4. Heavy rain alerts have been issued for Himachal, Uttarakhand, eastern Rajasthan, and eastern Uttar Pradesh from July 2 to 4.

Rain alert in Rajasthan

Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha will experience continuous rainfall from June 29th to July 4th. Very heavy rainfall is expected in western and eastern Madhya Pradesh between July 1st and 3rd. An alert has also been issued for very heavy rainfall in Vidarbha on July 3rd and 4th.

Rain warning in Bihar-Jharkhand too

Heavy rain will continue for several days in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 28th and 29th. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.

There will be heavy rain in these states as well

Good rainfall is also forecast for Konkan-Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Lakshadweep over the next week. Very heavy rainfall is possible at many places along the Konkan-Goa, Kerala, and Karnataka coasts.

Danger of thunderstorms and lightning

The International Monetary Fund (IMD) has warned of moderate to severe lightning strikes in central and eastern India for the next two to three days. Strong winds of up to 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected in many states.

Heat wave still affecting some states

Amid the rain, heat waves are expected in parts of Bihar, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh from June 29 to 30. However, temperatures in northwest India are expected to drop by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius after June 30, providing relief from the heat.
