Minor Girl Set Ablaze in Patna Over One-Sided Love, Succumbs to Injuries After Five-Day Battle

A deeply disturbing incident from Bihar’s capital Patna has shocked the entire region, where a minor girl was allegedly set on fire by a youth obsessed with one-sided love. After fighting for her life for five days, the victim succumbed to her injuries at a hospital on Wednesday night.

The incident took place on January 17 in the Sampatchak Bairiya area under Gopalpur police station limits. According to police, the accused, identified as Aditya Kumar, had been harassing and stalking the teenage girl for a long time. The victim had consistently rejected his advances, which reportedly angered him.

On the day of the incident, while the girl was walking along the road, the accused allegedly stopped her, poured petrol on her, and set her ablaze. Eyewitnesses described a horrifying scene in which the girl, engulfed in flames, ran nearly 100 meters screaming for help. Hearing her cries, nearby shopkeepers and passersby rushed to the spot and managed to extinguish the fire.

The critically injured girl was immediately taken to Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH), where doctors attempted to save her. However, due to severe burns over most parts of her body, her condition continued to deteriorate, and she died on the night of January 22.
