Twisha Sharma Case: New Revelations: The CBI has registered an FIR and begun an investigation into the Twisha Sharma case. Meanwhile, significant negligence on the part of the Bhopal police has come to light. The police conducted spot verification 13 days after the incident. The situation became even worse when the police couldn't even show the belt used in the suicide to the Delhi AIIMS team that came to conduct the post-mortem.
Bhopal Twisha Death Mystery: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its investigation into the much-talked-about Twisha Sharma death case in Bhopal. The CBI has registered an FIR against the deceased's husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, former district judge Giribala Singh. The CBI's Special Crime Unit, which arrived in Bhopal from Delhi, has begun collecting documents and evidence related to the case. Amidst this CBI entry, the Bhopal police's poor functioning and gross negligence have once again come to light.
According to sources, the local police were unable to show the Delhi AIIMS team, which came to Bhopal to conduct a second post-mortem on Twisha, the belt she claimed she used to hang herself. The police evaded the AIIMS team, saying the belt used in the suicide is currently with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Following this, the police are now writing to the FSL team.
Moreover, on Monday, 13 days after the incident, a police team conducted on-the-spot verification of the crime scene. The team, which stayed at the deceased's in-laws' house for approximately two hours, seized mobile phones, laptops, and other digital evidence for investigation. From the very beginning, the role of the local police in this high-profile case has been questionable, as even in such a sensitive matter, there was significant laxity in preserving evidence and conducting a timely investigation at the crime scene.
What has happened in the case so far?
The body of Twisha Sharma (33) was found hanging from a noose at her in-laws' home in Bhopal's Katara Hills area on May 12th. Her parents have accused her in-laws of severe dowry harassment and abetment to murder, while her in-laws claim it was a suicide related to drug addiction. Meanwhile, the country's Supreme Court has taken serious cognizance of the case. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi, hearing the case, assured that the investigation would be completely impartial, independent, and without bias. The court also strictly instructed both parties to refrain from making statements to the media.
