Maithili Thakur, the renowned folk singer and daughter of the Mithila region, is stepping into politics for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Her father Ramesh Thakur shared that the family had to leave Bihar in 1995 due to the rise of caste politics, but now with improved infrastructure and development, they are eager to return and contribute to their roots.

Maithili has expressed her desire to contest elections from either Darbhanga or Madhubani, emphasizing her family's deep connection to the villages and their shared experience of migration. She recently met with BJP leaders, including National General Secretary Vinod Tawde and Minister of State Nityanand Rai, who encouraged her to work for the state's progress.

She revealed that she will most likely contest her first election from the Benipatti Assembly constituency in Madhubani district. Maithili wants to engage with rural communities to better understand their needs and serve them effectively. While final decisions rest with the BJP, she is open to contesting from Ali Nagar as well.

On addressing social issues, Maithili mentioned the end of fear for daughters and daughters-in-law in Bihar, indicating growing safety and empowerment. With a focus on youth and women, she aims to connect with these demographics, leveraging her own youthful perspective to understand and address their concerns.
