KTM has increased the price of one of its popular entry-level sports bikes in India. The KTM RC 160 has become more expensive by around ₹15,000, taking its ex-showroom price to approximately ₹2 lakh.
The price hike brings the RC 160 much closer to the Yamaha R15 V4, making the competition in the 160cc sports-bike segment even more interesting. Despite the higher price, the KTM continues to offer a sporty design, a powerful engine, and hardware aimed at enthusiastic riders.
KTM RC 160 vs Yamaha R15 V4
After the latest price revision, the KTM RC 160 is now priced very close to the top-spec Yamaha R15 V4, which costs around ₹1.98 lakh.
Interestingly, the Yamaha R15 V4 offers several premium features, including a TFT instrument display, traction control, and a quickshifter on applicable variants. This makes the pricing of both motorcycles an important factor for buyers deciding between the two.
Powerful 164cc engine
The KTM RC 160 is powered by a 164.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It produces 18.73 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 15.5 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm.
The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. According to the company, the motorcycle can achieve a top speed of around 118 km/h.
The combination of a relatively light motorcycle, sporty riding position, and 6-speed transmission is designed to deliver an engaging riding experience.
Sporty hardware and braking setup
The RC 160 is built around a trellis frame and gets a suspension setup designed for sporty riding.
At the front, the motorcycle uses 37mm inverted forks, while the rear gets a preload-adjustable monoshock. Braking is handled by a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc, along with dual-channel ABS.
The motorcycle also comes with a 13.75-litre metal fuel tank, clip-on handlebars, full-LED lighting, and an LCD instrument cluster.
RC 200 is now only ₹32,000 more expensive
The latest price increase also makes the KTM RC 200 worth considering for buyers who are willing to spend more. The RC 200 is priced at around ₹2.32 lakh ex-showroom.
This means there is now a difference of only around ₹32,000 between the RC 160 and RC 200.
For buyers looking for a sporty KTM, the smaller RC 160 remains the more affordable option, but the relatively small price gap with the RC 200 could make the bigger-engine motorcycle an attractive alternative for some customers.
