Jr NTR’s upcoming film with director Trivikram Srinivas has landed in controversy even before production has started. The project, which recently created excitement among fans, is now facing strong opposition in Tamil Nadu, with some groups demanding that the film be banned in the state.
Reports suggest that the film is inspired by the mythology of Lord Murugan. Although the makers have not officially revealed the storyline or character details, speculation surrounding the project has already triggered a heated debate.
The controversy intensified after the film’s announcement poster allegedly suggested that Lord Murugan was "born in North India." The claim sparked outrage among many Tamil people, who regard Lord Murugan as a deeply revered Tamil deity. Critics argued that such a portrayal misrepresents Tamil cultural and religious traditions.
Among the strongest voices against the film is Tamil politician, former actor, and filmmaker Seeman. He warned the filmmakers against presenting Lord Murugan in a way that, according to him, contradicts established beliefs and Tamil history. Seeman also called for a ban on the film in Tamil Nadu if it contains what he described as inaccurate depictions.
In a statement shared on X, Seeman accused the makers of distorting Tamil heritage and urged them not to create fictional narratives about Lord Murugan’s origins in the name of artistic freedom. He also cautioned that such portrayals could face strong resistance in the state.
So far, the filmmakers have not responded to the controversy or Seeman’s remarks. The project is still in its early stages, with shooting yet to begin. Meanwhile, reports suggest the film could carry the title "God of War," although no official confirmation has been made.
