Internet Speed Comparison: Pakistan Lags While India Soars Ahead with 5G

While India is already progressing from 5G to 6G, neighboring Pakistan continues to struggle with slow internet speeds. Both mobile internet and fixed broadband in Pakistan rank far behind India, reflecting a significant digital divide between the two countries.

Pakistan’s Internet Speeds
According to the Speed Test Global Index (August 2025), Pakistan ranks 100th for mobile internet, with an average download speed of 24.32 Mbps and upload speed of 8.64 Mbps. For fixed broadband, Pakistan fares even worse, ranking 145th, with download speeds of 16.28 Mbps and upload speeds of 16.33 Mbps.

Among Pakistani cities, Lahore records the fastest mobile internet at 28.58 Mbps download and 7.70 Mbps upload. However, its fixed broadband remains slow, offering 16.73 Mbps download and 16.51 Mbps upload speeds.

India’s Internet Speeds
India outperforms Pakistan by a wide margin. For mobile internet, India ranks 25th globally, with download speeds of 131.77 Mbps and upload speeds of 11.18 Mbps. Fixed broadband ranks 98th, with impressive speeds of 59.07 Mbps download and 57.16 Mbps upload.

Delhi leads the country in internet speeds. Mobile internet in Delhi reaches 155.93 Mbps download and 8.78 Mbps upload, while fixed broadband offers 91.73 Mbps download and 91.98 Mbps upload.

The contrast highlights India’s rapid digital growth and adoption of advanced internet technologies, while Pakistan continues to face challenges in achieving higher connectivity speeds.
