Actor Rajpal Yadav surrendered in a cheque bounce case on February 5. After nearly two weeks in jail, the Delhi High Court has granted him interim bail until March 18 in the ₹9 crore cheque bounce case.

The case dates back to 2010, when Yadav borrowed ₹5 crore to finance his directorial venture, "Aata Pata Lapata." However, the film flopped at the box office, resulting in significant losses and subsequent legal proceedings.

Did Madhav Gopal trap the actor?

Speaking about the case, the actor claimed that he has been falsely implicated by businessman Madhav Gopal. He said that the case has nothing to do with fraud or loan default, but is instead the result of the businessman's "ill intentions." Yadav held a press conference in Mumbai on Saturday, where he revealed that he has not yet sold the satellite rights of "Aata Pata Lapata" and is still unclear whether he will eventually sell the film to an OTT platform.

Rajpal made a special plan

Yadav further said, "Now that people know about it, I am getting a 2-minute clip cut. The shooting lasted for 76 days, and you will see how much money was spent on it. We did not bring in 2500 people through CGI; they were real actors who shot in Film City. I just want everyone to see whether the money was spent on the film properly or not."

The actor mortgaged his land for the film.

The actor stated that he spent a total of ₹20-22 crore (approximately $2.5 million) on the film's production, even mortgaging his land and taking a bank loan to cover the financing. He claimed that a ₹5 crore dispute ultimately jeopardized his entire ₹20-22 crore (approximately $2.5 million) investment. Yadav further stated that even if the businessmen were upset, they should have allowed the film to be released, but he alleged that they prevented this from happening due to "ill-intentions." He also stated that approximately 200 actors were involved in the project.
