Getting frequent spam calls? Get rid of unwanted calls with these simple tricks!

These days, the constant flow of spam calls has become a major problem for smartphone users. Sometimes they call for fake offers, sometimes for loans and insurance, and sometimes they call people under the guise of  a bank or KYC update . These calls are not only annoying but can also lead to cyber fraud. Therefore, some simple precautions are essential to avoid them.

Be careful with unknown numbers

If you're receiving repeated calls from an unknown number, avoid receiving or returning them without verifying their identity. Be especially wary of calls that demand immediate action.

Turn on spam protection on your phone

Most smartphones these days have a feature to identify and block spam calls. You can activate Spam Protection, Caller ID, or a similar option in your phone's call settings. This can help identify suspicious calls.

Block and report suspicious numbers

If you're constantly receiving spam calls from a particular number, block it. Also, use the Report Spam option on your phone. This may help prevent calls from such numbers in the future.

Do not share your information

During a spam call, someone pretending to be an employee of a bank, company, or government institution may ask for your OTP, UPI PIN, ATM PIN, password, or card details. Never share such sensitive information over the phone.

Use the Do Not Disturb feature

The DND feature can be used to control telemarketing calls and messages in India. You can try to reduce unwanted commercial calls and messages through the options available from your mobile operator.

Report fraud immediately

If you have been scammed or lost money through a spam call, immediately contact your bank or the relevant service provider and use the official cybercrime complaint channel.
