These days, Germany's most popular holiday destination, Rügen Island, is taking on a magical look. The bitter cold and continuous snowfall have frozen the entire island under a thick layer of snow.
Shrouded in snow, the island of Rügen looks like something straight out of a fairy tale. Let's learn some facts about this special island.

This huge island is bigger than Singapore
The vastness of Germany's largest island can be gauged by the fact that it covers a total area of 926 square kilometers. This famous island is even larger than Singapore in terms of area. Its 574-kilometer-long coastline is so beautiful that it is affectionately known as the Queen of the Baltic Sea.
A wonderful blend of architecture and lighting
The most striking feature on this island is the Selin Pier. This 394-meter-long pier is renowned worldwide for its distinctive and magnificent architecture. Recently, when the pier's lights were turned on in the evening, the light falling on the frozen ice created a captivating sight that attracts numerous tourists.

Bitter cold and freezing temperatures
Nature is currently wreaking havoc on the island of Rügen. Temperatures have plummeted to minus 12 degrees Celsius. Thick clouds are covering the sky, blocking sunlight from reaching the earth. The frozen snow is unable to melt due to the lack of sunlight, leaving the entire area resembling a white desert.
Tourist favorite and diving gondola

Despite the cold weather, the island's popularity remains undiminished. Over 1.5 million tourists visit the island each year. Another major attraction on Rügen Island is its diving gondola, a device that allows visitors to safely plunge into the depths of the ocean and experience the breathtaking underwater landscape.
