First Tamannaah, Then Dhanashree… Now 'Maharani' Huma Qureshi to Set the Screen on Fire in Rajkummar Rao’s Gangster Drama

Rajkummar Rao has been on a winning streak—his last two films not only impressed critics but also left the box office ringing. Whether it was Tamannaah Bhatia’s explosive number in Stree 2 or Dhanashree Verma’s energetic appearance in Bhool Chook Maaf, the dance sequences in his films have become a key highlight. Now, gearing up for his upcoming gangster film Maalik, set to release on 11th July, another powerful name has entered the arena—Huma Qureshi.

Huma Joins the Gang – and for Free

Huma Qureshi, best known for her hard-hitting role in the hit web series Maharani, is now all set to deliver a fiery dance number in Maalik. Known for her bold screen presence, Huma has starred in 14 films—though only two registered average or semi-hit business, her OTT dominance has given her a new career edge.

According to sources, Huma was so captivated by the track’s beats and energy that she agreed to perform the number without charging a single rupee. Her camaraderie with Rajkummar Rao—last seen in Monica, O My Darling—and her personal rapport with producer Jay Shewakramani sealed the deal.

The Dance, The Drama, and 16 Hours of Grit

More than just a cameo, Huma’s item number is expected to be one of the film’s big highlights. She reportedly shot for 16 hours straight to wrap up the sequence in one go, showing her dedication and belief in the project.

Set in 1988 Allahabad, Maalik will showcase Rajkummar Rao in a gritty gangster avatar unlike anything seen before. The film promises raw action, retro atmosphere, and now, a show-stealing dance number from the 'Maharani' herself.
