The tournament's opening match will be played tomorrow in Mexico City between Mexico and South Africa. For the first time, 48 teams will participate in the World Cup.

Previously, 32 teams participated. This time, each team will play at least three matches within its group. According to the new format, 24 teams will advance directly from the group stage, while the best eight third-place teams will also advance to the knockout stages. Elimination matches will then be held between the 32 teams, leading to a bottom 16, bottom 8, semifinals, and final.
