EPFO: PF service will now be available on WhatsApp; old accounts will be settled automatically...

It will now be easier than ever for millions of employees to manage their PF-related work. The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is preparing to take two special steps to provide relief to its millions of members. The first step is that people will now get all PF-related services on WhatsApp. The second step is that their old accounts that have been closed for many years, which have a balance of up to Rs 1,000, will be automatically settled.

The organization's 74th Foundation Day is being celebrated in Delhi on Sunday, November 1, 2026. According to information released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Union Labor and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will inaugurate this special program. These two new facilities are being launched through this platform for millions of PF members. The organization's entire focus is on simplifying PF facilities for members. Furthermore, the process of settling short and long-dormant accounts can also be completed without any hassle.

Automatic Settlement of Small PF Accounts
After changing jobs, people often forget about the small balances in their old PF accounts. Or they don't withdraw this money because the process is lengthy. Under current rules, members must go through a separate settlement process to withdraw funds from such closed PF accounts.

This new move by EPFO will provide significant relief to eligible members who have had small amounts of up to Rs 1,000 deposited in their closed accounts for a long time. The primary purpose of this new system is to simplify the process. Once implemented, eligible members will no longer have to go through a lengthy paperwork process to withdraw small amounts or close their accounts. However, the PIB press release does not yet clarify the full eligibility criteria for this new facility. Furthermore, it does not specify the date when the automatic settlement will begin.

WhatsApp will make PF payments easier.
In this digital age, organizations will now use WhatsApp to connect with their members. With the launch of this feature, PF account holders will have a new and convenient way to access their services. This will make EPFO services easier than ever before.
