Vaibhav Suryavanshi has added another remarkable achievement to his rapidly growing cricket career. During the Duleep Trophy 2026 semi-final between East Zone and Central Zone, the young batter rewrote a record that had stood for 57 years.

Playing in East Zone's first innings, Suryavanshi reached his half-century in just 42 balls, creating history in the process. His achievement surpassed the long-standing record held by Laxman Singh, who had achieved a fifty-plus score in the Duleep Trophy back in 1969.

Suryavanshi is now the youngest batter in Duleep Trophy history to score a fifty-plus total.

The record had remained untouched since 1969, when Laxman Singh reached the milestone at the age of 16 years and 23 days. More than five decades later, Suryavanshi has taken the record away from him with another impressive display of aggressive batting.

The youngster brought up his half-century with a six off his 42nd delivery, making the moment even more memorable.

92 Runs Off Just 81 Balls

Suryavanshi didn't stop after reaching the milestone. He went on to score 92 runs from 81 balls, producing an entertaining innings filled with attacking strokes.

His knock included seven sixes and seven fours, highlighting his fearless approach against the Central Zone bowling attack.

Although he fell short of a century, his contribution proved highly valuable for East Zone in the semi-final.
