DGCA Rules: No air ticket charges will apply if you cancel your air ticket within 48 hours of booking, new rules have been introduced

If you frequently travel by air, then this news is useful for you. Yes, booking air tickets is quite easy. Offers for cheap fares are also available, but canceling a ticket after booking can be a burden and a hassle. But that won't happen anymore, as new regulations from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) come into effect on Thursday.

What are the new rules?
Now, if you cancel or change your air ticket within 48 hours of booking, you will not be charged any fees.
Airlines will also not be able to charge additional fees for processing refunds.

Refund Timelines
For tickets paid for with a credit card,
the airline must issue a refund within seven days of ticket cancellation.

Cash payments for flight tickets
will be refunded immediately at the airline office where the ticket was purchased.
Bookings through travel agents or travel portals

Airlines are responsible for refund, refund is mandatory within 14 working days
Airlines will not be able to charge any additional fee for processing refund Taxes will also have to be refunded
User Development Fee (UDF), Airport Development Fee (AFD), Passenger Service Fee (PSF) will also be refunded.
This rule will also apply to tickets with special fares, promotional offers or those tickets whose basic fare is not refundable.
When you cancel your flight ticket, the airline will mandatorily ask you whether you want a refund or you would like to keep the amount in a credit shell for future use. Taking a credit shell will depend on the passenger's choice.
