Dearness Allowance: Government employees are in luck! A 3% increase in dearness allowance is expected. What will your salary be?

There's good news for central government employees and pensioners. The central government will announce an increase in dearness allowance this week. Employees have been waiting for this for several days, and your wait may end this week. This decision is expected to result in a significant increase in the salaries and pensions of approximately 4.9 million central government employees and 6.8 million pensioners.

According to reports, the government will increase dearness allowance by 3 percent this time. Currently, this allowance is 58 percent, which will now increase to 61 percent. In October 2025, the dearness allowance was increased from 55 percent to 58 percent. This increase was effective July 1, 2025. The government revises this allowance twice a year (January and July) to mitigate the impact of rising inflation on employees' purchasing power.

How much will your salary increase?

The increase in dearness allowance will directly impact employees' salaries. So find out how much your salary will increase.

Basic Salary: The basic salary of an employee is Rs 56,100.

As per 58% DA: Till now he was getting Rs 32,538.

According to 61% DA: Now this amount will be Rs 34,221.

Net increase: There will be an increase of around Rs 1,683 every month.

Not only a salary increase, there's also talk that employees will receive three months' arrears (previous salary) from January to March. In the example above, an employee could receive an additional ₹6,732 in addition to their April salary. This amount depends on each employee's basic salary.

Salaries will increase by 34 percent.
The Finance Ministry formed a committee for the Eighth Pay Commission on November 3, 2025. This committee will prepare recommendations. Salary increases for government employees depend on the fitment factor, which determines employees' new salaries. If the Eighth Pay Commission maintains the fitment factor of 2.57, employees' salaries could increase by 34 percent.
