The Indian box office is witnessing an unusual trend. While films featuring popular stars, big budgets and extensive promotions are struggling to attract audiences, some smaller releases continue to perform strongly. The contrast has become particularly noticeable with recent releases such as Daayra, Vibe, Toxic and Haiwaan, which have reportedly failed to meet expectations.

Among the latest releases, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran's Daayra and Kunal Kemmu's Vibe have both faced a difficult Monday test. Despite their star power, neither film has managed to create a strong buzz at the ticket window.

Meanwhile, the low-budget film Hanuman Ansh continues its impressive run and has reportedly crossed the ₹350 crore mark worldwide, moving closer to the ₹400 crore milestone.

Here's a look at how Daayra and Vibe performed on Monday.

Daayra Box Office Collection

Daayra, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has struggled to gain momentum since its release. According to Sacnilk figures cited in the report, the film earned around ₹40 lakh on its fourth day, Monday, across 1,562 shows.

The film's gross domestic collection has reached approximately ₹5.93 crore, while its reported domestic net collection stands at around ₹4.95 crore. The film has earned approximately ₹5 lakh from overseas markets.

Its reported worldwide gross collection currently stands at around ₹7.68 crore.

Daayra witnessed a sharp decline in business on Monday. After opening with approximately ₹1 crore on day one, the film reportedly collected ₹1.75 crore on the second day and another ₹1.75 crore on the third day before its Monday collection dropped significantly.

Vibe Performs Better on Monday

Kunal Kemmu's Vibe, featuring Preity Zinta, has also struggled to attract large audiences but managed to record a higher Monday collection than Daayra.

According to the figures cited in the report, Vibe earned around ₹90 lakh on Monday from 2,609 shows. Its reported domestic gross collection stood at approximately ₹1 crore, while its domestic net collection was around ₹83.5 lakh.

The film reportedly earned around ₹25 lakh overseas, taking its worldwide collection to approximately ₹1.15 crore.

Although Vibe's Monday performance also remained modest, its reported earnings for the day were higher than those of Daayra.

Big Stars, But Weak Box Office Response

Both Daayra and Vibe arrived in theatres with recognisable names and expectations from the trade. However, their early box-office performance has been underwhelming compared with the expectations surrounding their releases.

At the same time, Hanuman Ansh has emerged as a contrasting example, continuing to attract audiences despite being a comparatively smaller production.

The coming days will determine whether Daayra and Vibe can recover some momentum or continue to struggle at the box office.
