DA-DR Hike: Will Central govt employees get double good news this festive season? This announcement could be made along with the DA hike

For the past few days, government employees and pensioners have been waiting for an increase in dearness allowance. In this regard, the All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF) has demanded that the central government announce DA and DR as soon as possible. On October 10, the organization wrote a letter to the Cabinet Secretary and the relevant ministry. Furthermore, AIDEF also demanded a ₹7,000 increase in the salary for central employees' performance-linked bonus calculation, bringing it to ₹21,000. If the government accepts this demand, a significant increase in the bonuses employees receive is likely. Let's find out the full details.

Sources said that AIDEF had written a letter to the Cabinet Secretary and concerned ministries on October 10, demanding an early announcement of the DA and DR hike, which will be effective from July 1, 2026 .

DA expected to increase by 3%:
According to reports, the DA for central government employees and DR for pensioners are currently estimated at 60%. Based on the AICPI-IW data for June 2026, an increase of approximately 3% is expected. However, this increase cannot be considered certain until an official announcement is made.

AIDEF has demanded that the salary limit for bonuses be raised
to Rs 21,000, from the current Rs 7,000 salary limit for calculating performance-linked bonuses, to Rs 21,000. This could increase the bonus amount for eligible employees. A 30-day bonus, at the Rs 7,000 limit, amounts to Rs 6,908. When this limit is raised to Rs 21,000, it could become Rs 20,724, a difference of approximately Rs 13,816.

Employees are focused on a final decision.
The central government's final decision on both demands, including an increase in DA/DR and a revised salary limit for bonuses, is still pending. Approval of these demands could provide financial relief to employees. However, the actual benefits will depend on the official order and applicable regulations.
