How to make clothes color-fast: Here's a simple trick you can use to color-fasten cotton clothes. This will prevent them from fading after repeated washings.
How to make clothes color last: Most people enjoy wearing cotton clothes in the summer. They're not only light and comfortable, but also look beautiful. However, cotton clothes tend to lose color very quickly. Especially dark colors like blue, pink, or red tend to lose color quickly. Each time you wash these clothes, they fade a little bit. Consequently, they start to look old within two or three washes. If this happens to you often, this article may be helpful. Here, we're sharing a simple trick you can use to make cotton clothes color last longer. This will prevent them from fading after repeated washings.
What is this trick?
Actually, this amazing trick was shared by digital creator Poonam Dewani on her YouTube channel. Poonam often shares simple and effective hacks on her social media handles. In this series, she has revealed an easy way to maintain the color of cotton clothes.
What to do?
- For this, first take 10-12 liters of water in a big vessel.
- Add about 50-60 grams of alum in it and mix it well.
- After this, add two handfuls (about 100 grams) of salt in this water.
- Now, open the clothes whose colour needs to be fixed and put them in this water.
- You can add several items of clothing at once if you wish. Soak the clothing in this mixture for at least 2 hours.
After 2 hours, rinse the clothes thoroughly with clean water to remove all the salt and alum. The clothes may initially appear slightly discolored after this process, but the color will be completely fixed and will not spread to other clothes.
This trick will also work
Often, after using this remedy, clothes become a little stiff. Poonam Dewani offers a simple trick for this. She says that one more step is necessary to soften clothes. Add 2 teaspoons of vinegar to a bucket of water and soak the clothes in it for half an hour. Vinegar not only softens the clothes but also helps them retain their color. After this, dry the clothes in mild sunlight.
This method will ensure your cotton clothes don't fade or shrink. Furthermore, the print will remain clean and vibrant. Whether it's a suit, bedsheet, or saree, you can use this method on all of them.
