In today's modern age, smartphones have become a vital part of our lives, allowing us to do almost everything from online banking and UPI payments to office work, social networking, and staying connected with family and friends. But imagine what would happen if your incoming calls were silently redirected to another number without your knowledge. This is a matter of concern.
Many users turn on call forwarding for their convenience and then forget to turn it off. In some cases, this feature may have been activated due to a change in device settings or accidentally turned on. Here's how to turn it off:
What is call forwarding?
Call forwarding is a telecom feature that automatically redirects calls to your mobile number to another phone number.
If call forwarding is turned on and associated with a different number, anyone calling you will be connected to that other number instead of your phone. This feature is beneficial for people who use multiple numbers, travel frequently, or want someone else to handle their calls for a while.
However, if call forwarding is accidentally left on, you may miss your important personal or work calls.

How to turn on call forwarding
Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi), and BSNL users can enable call forwarding through their phone settings:
Settings → Calls → Advanced Settings → Call Forwarding
Telecom operators also provide USSD codes to enable different types of call forwarding, including:
All incoming calls
Incoming calls when the line is busy
Unanswered calls
Incoming calls when the phone is turned off or out of network coverage
How to check if call forwarding is on
If you suspect that your calls are being forwarded, there's a simple way to check the status.
Follow these steps:
Open your phone's dialer.
Dial *#21#.
Press the Call button.
Within a few seconds, your screen will display the call forwarding status. If forwarding is enabled, the system will also display the number your calls are being redirected to.
This method works on most major telecom networks, including Jio, Airtel, Vi, and BSNL.
