In this digital age, smartphones and mobile numbers have become our identity. We use our mobile numbers for various purposes like banking, social media, booking train passes, online shopping, OTP etc. Many times we have to share our mobile numbers in shops or public places. However, sharing one's mobile number in public places is a matter of concern, especially for women. Keeping this problem in mind, the government telecom company BSNL has come up with a solution. The company has launched a new feature called "Kavach Number". This feature was launched on International Women's Day i.e. 8 March. The company says that this feature has been created keeping in mind the privacy and security of women.
BSNL Kavach Number
BSNL Kavach Number is a feature that helps women protect their mobile numbers. Under this feature, users will be provided with a temporary or second 10-digit number. This number will be linked to the user's actual mobile number. Whenever a woman wants to recharge her phone or give her number in a public place, she can use this temporary Kavach number instead of her actual mobile number. This way, her actual number is not shared with strangers and her privacy is maintained.
How does the Kavach Number feature work?
According to BSNL, the Kavach Number acts as a security layer. Users will be provided a 10-digit SMS from BSNL. This number will be linked to their mobile number. When recharging, they can use this temporary number instead of their own. The system recognizes the temporary number and delivers the recharge to the original mobile number. This allows you to recharge without having to share your mobile number.
Follow these steps to get your Kavach number.
BSNL has made this feature very easy to use. Users can get their Kavach number by following the steps below:
First, download the BSNL Self Care app on your smartphone.
After logging in to the app, look for the Kavach Number option.
From there, a temporary number can be generated. This number can also be accessed via SMS. Furthermore, complete information regarding this feature is available on BSNL's official website.
