Bijnor police arrested a gang notorious for stealing gold jewelry from women at religious events, temples, and crowded gatherings. The gang, mostly consisting of Muslim members, dressed in saffron robes and wore traditional Hindu kalava threads to blend in as devotees. They targeted women wearing gold chains, skillfully cutting the chains amidst the crowd without being noticed.

The gang committed multiple thefts, including three gold chain robberies on a single day—September 24—during a Bhagwat Katha event in Kiratpur town. Police investigation revealed suspicious behavior of seven men seen in CCTV footage around the victims. Using AI technology, police identified key gang members Rahimeen, Faisal, and Shahbaz, residents of the local area, and subsequently arrested them.

Further inquiries led to the arrest of remaining gang members from Delhi, Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Meerut, including Firoz Khan, Pooja alias Munni, Arif, and Rekha. Police recovered a vehicle, four gold bracelets, multiple pairs of earrings, chains, and ₹29,000 in cash.

Bijnor SSP Abhishek Jha termed the gang "very clever," noting their calculated crimes under the guise of religious participation. All members have been jailed, and investigations are ongoing to uncover further details.
