The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to keep the upcoming intra-squad match between Team India and India A, scheduled from June 13 to 16, completely closed to the media and broadcasters. This match serves as a final preparation before the five-match Test series against England starting June 20.
Unlike the recent India A unofficial Tests against England Lions, which were live streamed on JioHotstar, this intra-squad game will not be available for live viewing. The BCCI’s main reason is to prevent detailed observation of player strategies and performances by English media and broadcasters.
A BCCI statement confirmed, “This will be a completely closed intra-squad match. Players and support staff will be available for media only on the final day.”
This is not unprecedented; earlier this year during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, Team India also practiced behind closed doors to maintain privacy.
Notably, several players including KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Shardul Thakur, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and others who featured in the India A team recently and are part of the Indian Test squad will participate.
