A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, where a man allegedly killed his wife following a domestic dispute. The incident took place in Basantpur village under the Sukhpura police station area.
According to police, the accused, Mithun Sahni, had married Parvati in 2016. On the night of February 26, an argument reportedly broke out between the couple over a minor issue. During the altercation, Mithun allegedly assaulted Parvati with a stick, causing fatal injuries. She died at the scene.
Child Witnessed the Aftermath
Their six-year-old daughter was present in the house at the time. Unaware of the gravity of the situation, the child reportedly remained near her mother throughout the night. The incident came to light the next morning when neighbors were alerted, following which panic spread in the village. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused fled the spot.
Police Action and Arrest
On receiving information, senior police officials reached the scene. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, a murder case was registered against the accused. Police teams were formed, and raids were conducted to trace him.
On March 2, police received a tip-off about the accused’s presence near Jananayak Chandrashekhar University. He was surrounded and arrested and later sent to jail.
Official Statement
