Italian superbike giant Ducati has launched one of its most extreme and exclusive motorcycles in India — the Panigale V4 R. Priced at ₹84.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this race-focused superbike brings World Superbike Championship (WSBK) technology straight to Indian roads. Bookings are now open across Ducati dealerships, and the first delivery was made by Ducati Chennai on January 1, 2026.
According to Ducati, the Panigale V4 R is the most special production sports bike the brand has ever offered in India.
Legacy of championship machines
The Panigale V4 R carries forward the legendary “R” lineage that began with the Ducati 996R in 2001. These R models form the technical foundation of Ducati’s World Superbike racing machines. Each Panigale V4 R is produced in a numbered series, with its model name and unique serial number engraved on the steering plate, highlighting its exclusivity.
Engine and performance
At the heart of the Panigale V4 R is a 998cc Desmosedici Stradale R engine, developed directly from Ducati’s racing program. The engine delivers:
-
218 hp at 15,500 rpm
-
Maximum rev limit of 16,500 rpm in sixth gear
The engine uses lightweight pistons and a high-inertia crankshaft inspired by Ducati’s MotoGP machines. With the optional racing exhaust, power jumps to 235 hp, and when paired with Ducati Corse Performance oil, output can go up to 239 hp.
In full racing configuration, the Panigale V4 R is capable of achieving a top speed exceeding 330 kmph, placing it among the fastest production motorcycles in the world.
What makes it special?
The Panigale V4 R is the first production motorcycle to feature Corner Sidepods, a technology borrowed directly from MotoGP. These help improve tyre grip at extreme lean angles. The updated aerodynamic wings generate 25 percent more downforce than the previous model at speeds up to 270 kmph, enhancing stability and control.
The chassis is built around Ducati’s Front Frame design and a Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm, optimised for modern slick tyres. This setup significantly improves cornering precision and traction on track.
Despite its extreme performance, the bike weighs just 186.5 kg (without fuel). It comes finished in classic Ducati Red, features a 17-litre aluminium fuel tank, and uses a lightweight lithium battery.
A true race bike for the road
With its breathtaking performance, MotoGP-derived aerodynamics, and limited-production exclusivity, the Ducati Panigale V4 R is not just a superbike — it is a race machine with number plates. At nearly ₹85 lakh, it is aimed at serious collectors and track enthusiasts, and it firmly sets a new benchmark for high-performance motorcycles in India.
