Every year, Apple’s iPhone launches create massive buzz across the globe. But in 2026, things might take a surprising turn. According to new reports, Apple plans to launch only three iPhone models next year — instead of the usual four. This means one model is reportedly being discontinued.
Which iPhone Model Is Being Dropped?
As per a report by The Information, Apple has decided to remove the iPhone Air 2 from its 2026 lineup. This means the company will likely launch only:
-
iPhone Fold
-
iPhone 18 Pro
-
iPhone 18 Pro Max
The iPhone Air series reportedly failed to attract strong sales, leading Apple to reconsider its strategy. The iPhone Air 2, which was initially scheduled for a September 2026 launch, now appears to be shelved.
The report further mentions that Foxconn, Apple’s manufacturing partner, is set to halt iPhone Air production by the end of this month due to weak market demand and declining interest.
Expected Features of the iPhone 18 Series
Apple’s upcoming 2026 lineup — particularly the iPhone 18 Pro models — is expected to come with some major technological upgrades:
-
Chipset: A20 Pro processor based on TSMC’s 3nm process, promising better performance and efficiency.
-
Under-Display Face ID: Apple may finally introduce Face ID sensors beneath the display, removing the visible notch.
-
New C2 Modem: Apple is reportedly working on its own C2 5G modem chip, expected to replace Qualcomm’s hardware for faster connectivity and longer battery life.
