Apple Crowns 'Make in India' Success: iPhone Exports Hit Record ₹2 Lakh Crore in FY26

India’s ambition to become a global manufacturing powerhouse has reached a historic milestone. Driven by the success of the "Make in India" initiative, Apple’s iPhone exports from India have skyrocketed to a record-breaking ₹2 lakh crore in the 2025-26 fiscal year (FY26).

This achievement officially establishes Apple as India’s largest single-branded exporter, dominating the country's smartphone shipments and strengthening its domestic supplier ecosystem.

iPhone Leads India’s Export Surge

According to data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and reports by Business Insider, India’s total smartphone exports reached approximately ₹2.6 lakh crore ($29.4 billion) in FY26. Remarkably, the iPhone alone accounted for over 75% of these total exports.

The growth trajectory over the last few years highlights the sheer scale of this expansion:

  • FY22: ₹9,351.6 crore

  • FY23: ₹44,269.5 crore

  • FY24: ₹85,013.5 crore

  • FY25: ₹1.5 lakh crore

  • FY26: ₹2 lakh crore

A Thriving Domestic Ecosystem

The "Make in India" program, bolstered by the government's Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, has fundamentally changed Apple’s supply chain.

  • Supplier Network: Apple now works with over 40 domestic Indian companies, alongside global partners like TDK Corporation.

  • Key Partners: Manufacturing giants Tata Electronics and Foxconn contributed nearly equally to this year's record-breaking numbers, operating some of the largest production facilities in the country.

Social and Economic Impact

Beyond the revenue, the iPhone manufacturing boom has become a significant driver of employment and gender empowerment in India:

  • Job Creation: The Apple ecosystem in India now employs nearly 250,000 people.

  • Women in Manufacturing: In major production units, which employ between 19,000 and 42,000 workers each, over 70% of the workforce consists of women.

  • Resilience: Despite global geopolitical tensions and shifting tariff landscapes, iPhone exports managed a 33% growth in the first 11 months of FY26 alone.

The Road Ahead

This milestone solidifies India’s position as a critical hub in Apple’s global strategy. As the company continues to diversify its production away from traditional hubs, India is emerging not just as a large consumer market, but as the primary engine for Apple's international supply chain.
