1000 kg donkey meat and more than 50 live donkeys in Pakistan; Know what the neighbouring country is planning to do

Apart from this, more than 50 live donkeys have also been recovered from the farmhouse. It is believed that this meat was to be sent to expensive hotels and people abroad.

According to a report in Dawn newspaper, the Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) raided a farmhouse in Tarnol area. About 1,000 kg of donkey meat and more than 50 live donkeys were recovered from there. A foreign national was also arrested from the spot in this operation.

Where was the plan to supply?

According to a spokesperson of Islamabad district administration, an FIR has been registered against the foreigner. Initial investigation has revealed that the donkey meat was being prepared to be supplied to foreign restaurants and people.

Sources in the food authority said that the seized meat was packed very well and was neat and clean. This indicated that it was either to be sent abroad or sold to foreigners living in Islamabad.

Pakistan exports donkey meat to China

Dawn reports that Pakistan has been exporting donkey skins and meat to China. Pakistan has the second largest population of donkeys in the world after Ethiopia and Sudan.

There has been a huge increase in the prices of donkeys in recent months. A donkey is now being sold for around Rs 3 lakh in Pakistan. Chinese companies are also showing interest in raising donkeys in Pakistan.

What did the Pakistani minister say?

Pakistan's Agriculture Minister Rana Tanvir Hussain also met a Chinese delegation in April this year to discuss plans to open donkey farms in Pakistan. He said that any agreement would be made to ensure that the local donkey population is not harmed.
