A horrifying incident has occurred in Yellapur, Uttara Kannada district. Last Saturday, a young man brutally murdered a woman after she refused to marry him and then fled. Police say the accused was in love with the woman and killed her after she refused to marry him. The incident occurred within the Yellapur police station area. Police are searching for the absconding accused.

According to police, the deceased woman was Ranjitha, a resident of Yellapur town. A young man named Rafiq had been in love with Ranjitha for the past few years. Ranjitha was divorced about ten years ago and has a child. Ranjitha lived with her parents and older brother in Yellapur and worked as a food server at a government school.

Both fell in love after divorce

A few months after the divorce, Rafiq and Ranjita became friends, which gradually blossomed into love. The two families also had a good relationship. Locals said that Rafiq often visited Ranjita's house for dinner.

The accused youth was pressurizing for marriage

Although Rafiq had been pressuring Ranjita to marry him for the past few months, Ranjita flatly objected, saying, "I've already seen enough marriages. I don't want to get married again. Let our relationship remain as it is, but we won't get married."

The woman was returning from school when the accused attacked her

As usual, when Ranjita was returning home from school, Rafiq stopped her in the middle of the road and asked, "Will you marry me?" When Ranjita angrily refused, the enraged young man stabbed her and fled.

Seriously injured, Ranjitha was admitted to a hospital, where she died during treatment. The incident occurred at the Yellapur police station. Police are searching for the absconding accused.
