WhatsApp Update: Will you be able to see everyone's online status without opening the chat? This exciting feature is coming soon.

Messaging platform WhatsApp is working on a new feature. Some reports have surfaced regarding this. This upcoming feature will be similar to Instagram's Green Dot feature. Until now, users had to open a chat to check whether their friend was online. However, once the new feature is rolled out, users will be able to know whether their friend was online without even opening the chat. This feature is similar to Instagram's Green Dot.

WhatsApp is testing a new feature.
According to a report, the Meta-owned platform will now start showing a green dot on any contact's profile whenever they are online. This will let users know which users in their contacts are online and currently using the app, without even opening the chat. Apart from this, it is also being said that the messaging platform is also testing a new feature to manage chat backup on the WhatsApp Android app. This feature will help users control storage.

Get online status without opening a chat
Feature tracker WABetaInfo has found that the messaging platform is testing a new green dot feature. This makes it much easier to see who is online and using WhatsApp. This feature is reportedly available in WhatsApp beta version 2.26.24.5 for Android. If a user in your contacts is online, a green dot will appear on their profile photo on the screen.

Green dot feature can be hidden from privacy settings
According to the information given by the tracker, this green dot showing online status can also be hidden from privacy settings. A screenshot of this upcoming feature has also been shared in which this feature looks similar to the green dot found in other apps like Facebook, Instagram and Slack. This upcoming feature will help users to see who is available for chat in real time. It is being speculated that the new green dot will replace the online text label currently available in WhatsApp.

Another feature being tested
In addition, WhatsApp is also working on another feature. It's testing a dedicated in-app backup management section. This will allow users to view, delete, and duplicate previous backups to free up storage space. This feature is currently in testing.
