WhatsApp Update: Secret messages will be automatically deleted after being read, a new feature is coming soon

Messaging platform WhatsApp keeps releasing new updates from time to time for its millions of users. The constantly released new features and updates enhance the privacy and security of the users. Now once again the company is preparing to release a new feature. Some updates have also come out regarding this new feature. It is being said that this new feature will further enhance the privacy and security of the users. According to a recent report, it is being told that for the past few days the company has been testing a new feature called After Reading. In this feature, after reading a secret message, it will be automatically deleted within a short time. Let us know how this new feature will work and how users can use it.

How will the new feature work?

The latest report from WABetaInfo details the company's upcoming feature. The report states that if users have enabled this feature, a timer will start after the other person reads the message. The countdown will begin 15 minutes after the message is opened. Once this timer is complete, the message will automatically delete itself from both sides. This feature also allows users to set a timer. Users can set a custom time for the message to automatically delete itself from both sides. If the message is not opened, it will automatically expire after 24 hours. The upcoming feature is mentioned in WhatsApp's Android beta version 2.26.12.2. This feature is currently being tested.

Will the new feature increase user privacy?

This feature is said to be beneficial for users who share sensitive information on WhatsApp. If you're sharing OTPs, passwords, addresses, personal details, or verification codes on WhatsApp and don't want them stored in the chat for long, this new feature could help. It will reduce the risk of data leaks.

How will this feature be different from View Once?
The company has already released the View Once feature for WhatsApp. Using this feature, users can send photos, videos, audio or documents in such a way that the other user can see them only once. The After Reading feature will set a timer, which will disappear within 15 minutes after the receiver sees the message, so that no one else can see the private message.
