WhatsApp Is Getting a Fresh Makeover: Custom Colors and App Icons Coming Soon

WhatsApp is all set to roll out a big visual upgrade for Android users, aiming to make the messaging app more personal than ever. The popular chat platform, owned by Meta Platforms, is currently testing new customization tools that will let users change app colors, icons, and parts of the interface. This feature is still in the beta stage but is expected to arrive for regular users in future updates.

Say Goodbye to Just Green: New Color Themes Incoming

Until now, WhatsApp’s identity has been strongly tied to its signature green color. That’s about to change. Reports suggest WhatsApp is working on nearly 19 new color options, including royal blue, violet, coral, teal, brown, beige, yellow, pink, red, orange, and dark olive green. These colors won’t just apply to one section—they’ll extend across tabs, filters, and floating action buttons, giving the app a uniform and refreshed look.

App Icons Get a Stylish Upgrade

One of the most noticeable changes will be the WhatsApp app icon itself. The company is reportedly testing 14 new icon styles. These include clean, single-color icons in shades like blue, green, pink, purple, brown, and orange. There are also more creative designs such as aurora, galaxy, fluffy, clay, sparkle, neon, and other eye-catching styles. The best part? Users will be able to change the app icon directly, without needing any third-party launcher.

When Will Users Get This Feature?

At the moment, these customization options are being tested in Android beta version 2.26.6.1. Access is currently limited to developers and select beta testers. While WhatsApp hasn’t made an official announcement yet, the feature is expected to roll out gradually to all users in upcoming updates.

Why This Matters for Users

This update is all about personalization. With customizable colors and icons, users will finally be able to tailor WhatsApp’s appearance to match their style and mood. Whether you prefer minimal tones or bold, vibrant designs, this change promises to make chatting on WhatsApp more engaging, fun, and uniquely yours.
