Vodafone Idea (Vi) has introduced a new annual prepaid recharge plan priced at ₹4,600, targeting heavy data users with long-term validity and high daily usage limits.
Key highlights of the ₹4,600 plan
The new plan offers 365 days validity along with benefits that include:
- Unlimited voice calling
- 100 SMS per day
- “Unlimited” data access (with conditions)
- 5G connectivity support
However, the so-called unlimited data comes with a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) cap. Users get up to 300GB data per 28 days, after which speeds may be reduced.
Data usage conditions
Although marketed as unlimited, the plan enforces a usage threshold:
- 300GB per 28-day cycle on both 4G and 5G
- Same FUP limit applies to high-speed usage regardless of network type
This makes the plan more of a high-data bundle rather than truly unlimited usage.
Cost breakdown
The annual cost of ₹4,600 translates to approximately ₹12.60 per day, making it a premium option compared to standard prepaid packs. While expensive, it is positioned for users who consume large volumes of mobile data consistently.
Comparison with Jio’s annual plan
In comparison, Reliance Jio offers a ₹3,999 annual plan with:
- 365-day validity
- 2.5GB data per day (about 70GB per 28 days)
- Unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day
- Additional bundled benefits such as entertainment and cloud storage services
What this means for users
Vi’s new plan is aimed at heavy data consumers who prefer large monthly data pools instead of daily limits, while Jio continues to focus on daily capped high-speed data along with bundled digital services.
Overall, the new ₹4,600 plan strengthens Vi’s annual prepaid lineup but still operates within structured FUP limits despite its “unlimited” branding.
