Rizwan ISIS Link: Rizwan, a suspected ISIS operative from Kushinagar, was arrested in a joint operation by the UP ATS and Delhi Police. Investigations are underway into allegations of international calls and the Explosive Substances Act. His father said, "If he is guilty, he should be punished."
Kushinagar ISIS Suspect Arrest: Late Saturday night, security agencies conducted a major operation in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, arresting a young man named Rizwan. This operation was carried out by a joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad and the Delhi Police Special Cell. Rizwan's name has previously surfaced in cases related to the terrorist organization ISIS. Following his arrest, he was taken to Delhi on transit remand, where he is being interrogated.
Father's statement: If he has committed a mistake, he should be punished.
Following Rizwan's arrest, his father, Nizamuddin, issued a statement. He stated clearly that if his son is found guilty, he should be punished according to the law. Nizamuddin is a retired government employee. He said, "We are citizens of this country and love our country. If my son has committed a mistake and is guilty, he should be punished." He also made it clear that he does not support any illegal activity.
What charges were they arrested for?
According to the Delhi Police, Rizwan was wanted in a case in which he has been charged under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act. Investigating agencies received information that he had been making international calls in recent days. These calls raised the suspicion of security agencies, leading to surveillance of his activities and subsequent action.
Rizwan has been on the radar of agencies before.
Rizwan's name first came to the attention of investigating agencies in 2016, when the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested him for alleged links to ISIS. He subsequently served time in a Delhi jail from 2017 to 2023 in connection with a bomb blast case. After his release, he appeared to be living a normal life, but agencies now suspect that his activities may not have completely ceased.
What were you doing after coming out of jail?
After being released from prison, Rizwan changed his location and began running a fast food shop. Investigating agencies believe this activity may have been intended to appear as part of his normal life. However, they suspect he was attempting to influence or maintain connections with young people.
What are the investigating agencies looking for now?
Delhi Police have now taken Rizwan to Delhi and are questioning him in detail. Investigating agencies are trying to determine the extent of his network, where he was receiving funding, and whether he has connections to any other suspects.
