Tulsi Vivah 2025: Date, Worship Method, and Religious Significance

Tulsi Vivah is a sacred Hindu festival celebrated annually on the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Kartik month, marking the end of Lord Vishnu's four-month cosmic sleep called Chaturmas. In 2025, Tulsi Vivah will take place on Sunday, November 2nd.

On this auspicious day, Goddess Tulsi (holy basil) is ceremoniously married to the Shaligram form of Lord Vishnu, symbolizing the divine union of devotion and purity. The celebration emulates a traditional wedding with rituals including bathing the Tulsi plant and Shaligram with holy water, adorning Tulsi with a red scarf, bangles, and a bindi, while Shaligram is decorated with yellow cloth and sandalwood tilak. Devotees circumambulate the Tulsi plant seven times holding Shaligram, light ghee lamps, perform aarti, chant marriage mantras, and offer prasad.

Tulsi Vivah is considered a symbol of love, loyalty, and spiritual prosperity. It marks the beginning of the Hindu wedding season and is believed to bring happiness, peace, and auspiciousness to the home. Unmarried girls observe a fast on this day, praying for a suitable life partner. Performing Tulsi Vivah is regarded as a highly virtuous act that brings blessings and good fortune.

This time-honored festival connects devotees with divine energies and heralds the start of many auspicious beginnings in Hindu culture.
