Tulsi Gabbard Resigned: Why did Tulsi Gabbard resign as US Intelligence Chief? This reason has come to light

Tulsi Gabbard, 45, said in her resignation letter that she would continue in her post as the country's national intelligence chief until June 30 so that the leadership transition process could be completed smoothly.

Tulsi Gabbard, the US Director of National Intelligence and a proponent of a relatively moderate foreign policy, submitted her resignation to President Donald Trump . She said she was stepping down to care for her husband, who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.

Gabbard's resignation will end her tenure overseeing 18 agencies within the US intelligence community. Her tenure has been fraught with upheavals, during which she was largely excluded by the White House from decision-making on key national security matters, such as military operations in Iran and Venezuela.

Gabbard was critical of US attacks abroad

President Trump had assembled a team for his second term that included supporters of an aggressive foreign policy and figures like Tulsi Gabbard, a critic of US intervention abroad. However, in recent months, Gabbard and the faction representing her views have steadily declined in influence. Her resignation is considered the biggest blow to this group yet.

Tulsi will remain in the post till June 30

Tulsi Gabbard, 45, said in her resignation letter that she would remain in her position as the country's national intelligence chief until June 30 to ensure a smooth leadership transition. President Trump announced that Tulsi Gabbard's deputy, Aaron Lucas, would be appointed acting director of national intelligence.

Gabbard was elected as a Democratic senator from Hawaii.

It's unclear who Trump will nominate to replace Gabbard. Tulsi Gabbard, 45, is a combat veteran and former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii. She ran for president in 2020, but later split from her party and endorsed President Trump in the 2024 election.
