Toyota is preparing to update its popular premium hatchback, the Glanza, with a facelift in India. The upcoming model is expected to receive several styling changes along with a significant list of new features.

The update comes after Maruti Suzuki introduced the facelifted Baleno, which shares its platform and several components with the Glanza under the Toyota-Suzuki partnership.

The new Baleno starts at ₹6.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and gets a refreshed exterior along with additional technology and equipment. Toyota is expected to use many of these upgrades for the next Glanza while making a few design changes to give its version a distinct identity.

The 2026 Toyota Glanza facelift is expected to launch around October 2026, although Toyota has not officially announced a launch date yet.

How Will the New Glanza Look?

Toyota already makes subtle styling changes to the Glanza to differentiate it from the Baleno, and the facelift is expected to follow the same approach.

The updated Baleno features a larger front grille with three chrome strips, while the Suzuki logo has been moved from the grille to the bonnet. Gloss-black elements are also expected around the grille.

Toyota could give the Glanza a slightly different interpretation, with a more substantial-looking front end and a design that reflects Toyota's styling language.

The headlamps are expected to retain a familiar shape and could continue to feature LED daytime running lights and integrated turn indicators. LED fog lamps may also be offered.

At the rear, major changes are unlikely. The facelift could continue with features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, LED tail-lamps and a redesigned or carryover rear bumper.

ADAS Could Be the Biggest New Feature

The biggest upgrade could come in the form of technology.

The new Glanza is expected to get Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). If introduced, it would bring the Toyota hatchback in line with the feature list of the latest Baleno.

The expected ADAS package could include:

• Automatic Emergency Braking

• Lane Keep Assist

• Adaptive Cruise Control

• Automatic High-Beam Assist

Toyota could also provide a dedicated physical button allowing drivers to activate or deactivate the ADAS functions.

Ventilated Seats and More Premium Features

The facelifted Glanza could receive several comfort and convenience upgrades as well.

Expected features include front ventilated seats, UV-cut glass, wireless smartphone charging, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and a Head-Up Display (HUD).

The car could also get a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a 360-degree camera.

Safety equipment is expected to include six airbags and ABS with EBD, among other standard safety features.

New 1.2-Litre Engine Could Arrive

The facelift may also bring an important mechanical change.

The current 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine could be replaced by Maruti Suzuki's newer 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine.

This engine is already used in the Swift and produces around 81bhp and 112Nm of peak torque.

The new Glanza could offer this engine with both manual and AMT gearbox options, potentially improving its efficiency and changing its driving characteristics.

CNG-AMT Could Follow Later

Toyota could also expand the Glanza's CNG lineup in the future.

A CNG-AMT version is expected to arrive at a later stage. Maruti Suzuki is reportedly planning a CNG-AMT version of the Baleno around 2027, and Toyota could introduce a similar setup in the Glanza.

With a refreshed design, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, upgraded cabin technology and a potentially new engine, the 2026 Glanza facelift could become a considerably more feature-packed premium hatchback.

However, Toyota is yet to officially confirm the launch date, specifications and final feature list.
