Toyota has officially stepped into the electric vehicle segment in India with its first electric SUV, the Urban Cruiser EV (Ebella). The model has already begun reaching dealerships, marking a major milestone for the company’s EV strategy in the Indian market.
In May 2026, around 45 units of the SUV were dispatched to dealers. While early sales remain modest compared to rivals, the model represents Toyota’s entry into a rapidly growing electric SUV segment.
Early Market Performance
Toyota recorded total passenger vehicle sales of 30,560 units in May, with the Urban Cruiser EV contributing a small share of about 0.14%.
The SUV is essentially Toyota’s version of the Maruti e-Vitara, which saw stronger early traction with over 500 units sold shortly after launch.
Variants and Pricing
The electric SUV is offered in three trims:
-
E1
-
E2
-
E3
However, Toyota has currently announced pricing only for the top-spec E3 variant.
Price Details:
-
Ex-showroom price: ₹23.60 lakh
-
Approximate on-road price: ₹25.05 lakh
For comparison, the Maruti e-Vitara starts at around ₹15.99 lakh, making it a more affordable entry point in the segment.
The model also supports Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), which helps reduce the upfront purchase cost.

49 kWh battery (E1 variant)
-
61 kWh battery (E2 and E3 variants)
Depending on the configuration, Toyota claims a driving range between:

This positions it competitively among mid-size electric SUVs.
