Security forces launched a massive search operation in the Samba district of the Jammu division after three suspicious individuals were spotted. The operation, which lasted six hours, saw security forces search several villages, but found nothing.
A local youth in Darui village, along the Samba-Mansar road, spotted three suspicious men at 1:30 a.m. Saturday night. The local village head was informed, who then informed the police.
The young man said that three people were standing outside the house at night, one of whom had a torch in his hand, but due to the darkness he could not see any weapons or other items in the hands of the others. At 6 a.m. on Sunday, police, SOG, and army personnel conducted a search operation in Darui and the surrounding villages, including Shah Blod, Gwalchora, and Daboh, but found nothing.
Many villages have been old routes of terrorists
The area where the suspects were seen, along with several other villages, has long been a route for terrorist infiltration. The streams along the villages directly connect to Kashmir, Doda, and Kishtwar.
In 1994, members of the local village security group and local residents killed a foreign terrorist in Cheela Danga village, after which security was strengthened by establishing a police outpost in Cheela Danga. About a year ago, the presence of a Thuraya satellite set in the same area had also heightened security alert.
