This Bike Takes on the Hunter 350, Priced at ₹1.59 Lakh and Looks Stunning

India Yamaha Motor has expanded its neo-retro motorcycle lineup with the launch of the Yamaha XSR155 in a new Metallic Black color. Priced at ₹1,58,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new variant adds a more premium and aggressive visual appeal, placing it in direct competition with bikes like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350.

The Metallic Black version stands out with its golden upside-down (USD) front forks, enhancing the bike’s road presence and giving it a more upmarket look.

Classic Design with a Premium Touch

While the color is new, the XSR155’s classic retro styling remains unchanged. The muscular fuel tank, minimalist body panels, and timeless proportions continue to define the motorcycle’s character. The contrast between the bold black paint and golden USD forks gives the bike a sportier yet elegant appearance, appealing to riders who value individuality and style.

Features and Specifications

The Yamaha XSR155 is built around a lightweight and well-balanced chassis, riding on 17-inch wheels for improved stability and comfort.

Powering the motorcycle is a 155cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine equipped with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology. This motor delivers:

  • 13.5 kW of power

  • 14.2 Nm of torque

The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox that includes an assist and slipper clutch, ensuring smoother gear shifts and better control during aggressive downshifting.

Safety and Ride Hardware

The motorcycle is based on Yamaha’s proven Deltabox frame and comes equipped with:

  • Aluminum swingarm

  • USD front forks

  • Linked-type monocross rear suspension

  • Dual-channel ABS

  • Traction control system

These features enhance ride stability, braking confidence, and overall safety, making the XSR155 suitable for both city commuting and spirited weekend rides.

Yamaha’s Vision

Commenting on the launch, Hajime Aota, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group, said:

“The XSR155 has received a strong response since its launch, highlighting the growing appreciation for modern retro sports design in India. Responding to customer demand, the Metallic Black variant strengthens our connection with riders who seek individuality, performance, and style. We will continue to introduce products that deliver true riding pleasure.”
