The entire Ayushman Bharat system will be available on WhatsApp; the government has launched the AI chatbot 'Ayushman Sarathi'

The central government has launched the "Ayushman Sarathi" WhatsApp chatbot for Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY). Beneficiaries can now download their Ayushman card, complete their eKYC, and more by sending a message to WhatsApp number +91 72908 23838.

To further simplify services related to Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), the central government has launched an official WhatsApp chatbot called "Ayushman Sarathi." The government says that beneficiaries will no longer have to rely on government offices or call centers for many essential services. They will be able to access services directly through WhatsApp, 24 hours a day.

Many important services will be available on WhatsApp

Through Ayushman Sarathi, beneficiaries will be able to check their eligibility under PM-JAY, apply for a new Ayushman card, download the card, and re-process eKYC. Furthermore, linking Aadhaar, locking or unlocking the card, viewing treatment records, and checking wallet balances will be made easy. Services related to the Ayushman Vaya Vandana card for those over 70 will also be available on this platform.

From finding a hospital to registering a complaint

The chatbot is not limited to providing information. It also allows beneficiaries to locate their nearest empanelled hospital, register a complaint, track the status of their complaint, or even withdraw it if needed. It also offers a call-back feature and the option to provide feedback after discharge.

Government claims – service will be fast and transparent

According to the Health Ministry, Ayushman Sarathi operates on a secure API-based system and is directly integrated with the PM-JAY platform. This will provide beneficiaries with real-time information, speed up service delivery, and reduce the need to visit government offices. The Ministry believes this will also improve grievance redressal and service monitoring.

How to use it?

Using Ayushman Sarathi is extremely easy. Beneficiaries can invoke the chatbot by sending "HI" to WhatsApp number +91 72908 23838 or scan a government-issued QR code. They will then be presented with all available service options directly on WhatsApp.

Why is this initiative important?

Ayushman Bharat is one of the world's largest government health insurance schemes, covering millions of people. Availability of services on a widely used platform like WhatsApp is expected to make the scheme easier, faster, and more convenient for beneficiaries than ever before. This could directly benefit those in rural areas and those with limited experience with digital services.
