Telangana Bride Kidnapped by Family After Love Marriage, Husband Files FIR

A shocking case has come to light from Medchal Malkajgiri district of Telangana, where a young bride was allegedly kidnapped by her own family just weeks after her marriage. Praveen, a resident of Narsampally village in Dammaiguda Municipality, had been in a relationship with Shwetha, his neighbor, for nearly seven years. Despite their long relationship, Shwetha’s family strongly opposed their union. On July 11, the couple eloped and got married at Arya Samaj in Secunderabad before moving to Hyderabad.

However, when Praveen’s father fell seriously ill, he returned to his hometown with his wife to take care of him. It was during this time that Shwetha’s family learned of their presence and stormed into Praveen’s house. According to the complaint, they assaulted Praveen and his parents, even throwing chili powder into their eyes to immobilize them. Amidst the chaos, they dragged Shwetha out of the house, tied her hands and legs, forced her into a car, and fled. The entire incident was caught on CCTV cameras.

Praveen, devastated by the abduction, rushed to the police and lodged a kidnapping complaint against his in-laws. “Sir, they can do anything to my wife. Please help me. I want my wife back,” he pleaded in his statement. The Keesara police have registered the case and launched an investigation. Meanwhile, tensions in the village remain high as locals express shock over the violent incident.
