Tata Sierra creates history with over 70,000 bookings on day one

Tata Motors’ much-anticipated mid-size SUV, the Tata Sierra, has made a strong entry into the market by setting a new booking record. The company announced that the Sierra received more than 70,000 confirmed bookings on the very first day, December 16. In addition, around 1.35 lakh customers submitted their preferred configurations, indicating exceptionally high interest in the SUV.


Booking details and price range

Bookings for the Tata Sierra are open both online on Tata Motors’ official website and at authorised Tata dealerships across the country. Customers can book the SUV by paying a booking amount of ₹21,000, which will be adjusted against the final on-road price.

The Tata Sierra is priced between:

  • ₹11.49 lakh for the base variant

  • ₹21.29 lakh for the top-end variant
    (all prices ex-showroom)

The SUV is offered in seven variants:
Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+.


Engine and drivetrain options

The Tata Sierra is available with three engine choices:

  • 1.5-litre Hyperion T-GDi petrol

  • 1.5-litre Revotron petrol

  • 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel

Buyers can choose between manual and automatic transmissions. The SUV also comes with multiple drive modes, including City and Sport, along with terrain modes such as Normal, Wet and Rough, making it suitable for varied driving conditions.


Features and interior highlights

In terms of design and technology, the Sierra positions itself as a premium offering. Key features include:

  • LED lighting setup

  • 19-inch alloy wheels

  • Large panoramic sunroof

  • Triple-screen layout with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and two 12.3-inch displays

  • JBL 12-speaker sound system with Dolby Atmos

  • Ambient lighting and connected car technology

These features give the Sierra a modern and upmarket feel.


Safety and performance claims

The SUV is equipped with Level 2+ ADAS, offering 22 advanced safety functions. During testing at NATRAX, Tata Motors recorded a claimed mileage of 29.9 kmpl and a top speed of 222 kmph. However, production models for customers will have their top speed electronically limited to 190 kmph.
