In Rajasthan's Jalore district, a panchayat has banned the use of smart phones by daughters-in-law and daughters in 15 villages. The panchayat says this step is aimed at preventing mobile addiction and eye problems.

A panchayat in Rajasthan's Jalore district has issued a strange decree. The Chaudhari community, located in the Sundhamaata area of ​​the district, has decided to ban the use of mobile phones with cameras for daughters-in-law and daughters in 15 villages. This decision will be implemented from January 26th.

According to the Panchayat's order, women in these villages will no longer be able to use smartphones or mobile phones with cameras. They will only be allowed to carry simple mobile phones with keypads. Furthermore, they will be prohibited from carrying mobile phones to weddings, social gatherings, public events, or even visiting neighbors' homes.

Representatives from 14 regions were present at the meeting.

This decision was made at a meeting of the Chaudhary community held in Ghazipur village of Jalore district on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by Sujanaram Chaudhary, president of the Sundhamaata Patti. Representatives from 14 Pattis and the community's Panchs were present. During the meeting, the increasing use of mobile phones and its alleged ill effects were discussed in detail.

Society President Sujanaram Chaudhary stated that this proposal was put forward by the Devaram Karnol side, and Panch Himmatram read it out at the meeting. After this, all present discussed and unanimously decided that the daughters-in-law and daughters of the society would use keypad mobile phones only for calling purposes.

However, the Panchayat's decision also provides some relaxation. If girls studying need a mobile phone, they will be able to use it within their homes. However, they will not be allowed to take their phones to social events, weddings, or neighbors' homes.

The Panchayat explained the reason behind the decision

The Panchayat's reasoning for this decision is that women's access to smartphones has led to increased use of mobile phones by young children. This has been feared to have adverse effects on children's eyes and lead to health problems. The Panchayat believes this decision will help prevent children from becoming addicted to mobile phones.

The Panchayat also clarified that the rules regarding mobile phone use established at the meeting will apply equally to all the villages involved. These rules will be implemented in the villages of Gazipura, Pawali, Kalra, Manojia Vas, Rajikavas, Datlavas, Rajpura, Kodi, Sidrodi, Aldi, Ropsi, Khanadewal, Savidhar in Jalore district, and Hathmi Ki Dhani and Khanpur in Bhinmal.

Reactions to the Panchayat's decision are varied. Some see it as in the best interests of children's health, while others see it as a restriction on women's freedom.
